Purpose

Experience and learn the fundamentals of urban sustainable farming in a subtropical environment.

Mission

To educate the mind, rejuvenate the spirit and nourish the body through hands-on experience of sustainable urban agriculture and local food systems.

Students Will Learn Urban Decentralize Farming in a Subtropical Climate Zone:

An environmentally and economically sustainable urban farming system that creates a network of secure healthy food sources of naturally grown vegetables, fruits, and eggs, while providing local jobs and vocational training in the sustainable agricultural industry. The micro farms are proven to be the most sustainable use of urban land in Broward county Florida today.

The farm scale is small so it is easy to manage in an all-natural method of irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.  Fossil fuels are not needed.

Varieties of climate appropriate and native seasonal crops are grown in sequence harvested weekly and are available for pick up by the consumer at designated hubs or at the garden. With no transportation or refrigeration costs for distribution the farmers save 90% of the cost of food compared to conventional distribution. Only an 8 city block area is served by each farm, enabling food, work and community to happen where it is needed. The local community can volunteer and learn how to farm, handle and cook the food.
